The Law Office of Jason Ingber has filed a class action lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California on behalf of Ronak N. Shafi and other DoorDash drivers nationwide. The case, Shafi v. DoorDash, Inc. and Stripe, Inc. (Case No. 3:25-cv-06773), seeks to expose what the complaint describes as a systematic scheme to withhold wages from hardworking delivery drivers through failed payment systems, false assurances, and circular blame-shifting between DoorDash and its payment processor, Stripe.
According to the filing, Ms. Shafi, who maintained Top Dasher status for nearly five years, has not received any pay for deliveries completed since December 2024, despite working full shifts daily. She alleges that DoorDash and Stripe repeatedly promised to “escalate” her issue while denying accountability and even refused her entry to the company’s San Francisco headquarters when she attempted to resolve it in person. As a result, she has fallen into severe financial hardship, accumulating more than $18,500 in credit card debt simply to cover food and rent.
Allegations of Fraud and Negligence
The complaint details claims for fraud, negligence, breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and violations of California’s Labor Code and Unfair Competition Law. It asserts that DoorDash and Stripe knowingly misled drivers with false promises of technical fixes while continuing to benefit from unpaid labor. The lawsuit seeks unpaid wages, consequential and punitive damages, and injunctive relief requiring DoorDash to correct its payment systems and stop retaliatory practices against drivers who report non-payment.
A Broader Pattern of Harm
Ms. Shafi’s experience, the suit alleges, is not an isolated incident. Other DoorDash drivers nationwide have reported similar non-payment problems and repeated denials of responsibility. The proposed class action represents all DoorDash drivers whose earned delivery payments were withheld for 21 days or longer during the past four years.
